RESULTS

How long will it take to get the results?

The period that you have to wait for your results depends on the type of test you have requested. The terms indicated on our website are as follows:

  • Sexed by DNA (8-12 days)
  • Sexed Express (3-4 days)
  • PBFD (10-12 days)
  • Sexed by DNA + PBFD (10-12 days)
  • Psittacosis Express (10-12 days)
  • Bird Secure Plus Express (10-12 days)

How are the results sent?

The results will be published in real-time in your account so that you can consult them; you will have to log into your account> SEE MY SHIPMENTS AND RESULTS > YOUR RESULTS from the home page or go to the link that appears in the warning message that you will receive by email.

Why do I have to send samples again?

Because the quantity and quality of the extracted DNA have not fulfilled the basic standards required for the correct functioning of the PCR. This occurs more frequently with feathers since the quantity and quality of DNA that is found is variable, not only between species but within the same individual.

Remember, although you can extract DNA from the epithelial cells that remain in the barrel of the feather, it is the small drop of blood that is isolated and dried in the barrel of the feather where the largest quantity of DNA will be found. As a simple rule, it can be concluded that the larger the feather, the better the quality and the higher the amount of DNA  that will be extracted, thereby increasing the probability of PCR success in the laboratory. When the feathers that we receive are too small, or have been cut with scissors, or are dry and degraded, customers will be contacted to request the delivery of a new sample. To avoid further delay in the publication of our results, we will ask customers to resend samples of blood; this ensures a sufficient quantity and quality of DNA to carry out the analysis.

Why do I have some results and not all of them if I have sent several samples at once?

The laboratory always registers the samples of the customer all at once, but it may happen that specific samples do not have the same quality and the laboratory will have to repeat the analysis if it does not achieve a reliable result. Therefore, you will have to wait for the repetition to have all the results.

Why could not I get the results for my sample?

If the amount and/or quality of the extracted DNA was not enough to ensure the amplification of the DNA, we will request new samples to be able to repeat the entire process. You will have to reprint the same application in which you can deposit the new samples. We usually recommend 2-3 drops of blood to optimize the analysis so that the laboratory can give you the results as soon as possible.
